We present this antique Epidiascope from the 20th century. Also known as an ‘opaque projector’, it is used to project opaque films. The episcopes basically consists of a light source (projection lamp), a support with the film to be projected, and a lens. Additionally, it can have a concave mirror as an internal reflector, which increases the performance of the light source; a system that allows the lens to be moved in order to focus the image; and an external reflecting mirror, which allows the image to be oriented on the external surface on which it is projected. It works with sheets of wood, cardboard or cardboard: drawings, photographs and even three-dimensional objects are superimposed on these. It works with electric current. It can be considered an evolution of the magic lanterns. The operation of the magic lantern required only very simple and accessible elements. These glass slides were usually hand-painted with colours and shapes, depending on the image to be projected. Even if the glass slide was very long, you could include several images on the same plate and move it around to project them all. The non-existence of electricity meant that candles and oil lamps were used as light sources.
