Jingdezhen porcelain (Chinese: 景德镇陶瓷) is Chinese porcelain produced in or near Jingdezhen in Jiangxi province in southern China. Jingdezhen may have produced pottery as early as the 6th century CE, although it is named after the reign of Emperor Zhenzong, in whose reign it became an important kiln site, around 1004. It has produced a wide variety of pottery and porcelain, for the Chinese market and as Chinese export porcelain, but its best-known high-quality porcelain wares have been successively the Qingbai wares of the Song and Yuan dynasties, the blue-and-white porcelain of the 1330s, and the “pink family” and other “family” colours under the Qing dynasty.
