Nomenclature of Major Place Names in the Balearic Islands

The primary objective of this edition of the Nomenclature of Major Place Names in the Balearic Islands is to provide a cultural service to society, as it fills a gap and completes a task that has remained pending and that should not be delayed any longer: systematically compiling the major place names of the Balearic Islands. In order to carry out this task, the criteria followed have been as rigorous as possible and have been adapted to the guidelines of the Onomastics Office of the University of the Balearic Islands. When assigning names to places, genuine historical names have been taken into account, as these need to be preserved and conserved.
