From 1780 onwards, a series of events took place throughout Spain, partly as a result of the French Revolution and partly due to the Napoleonic invasion, which brought about a crisis in the monarchical absolutism that had ruled until then. In the Balearic Islands, these reforms and the crisis also directly affected its demography, society and economy until finally, at the end of the 19th century, absolutism finally disappeared and new political currents emerged.
