Graduated in pharmacy in 1975. He was leader of the Popular Socialist Party in the Balearic Islands at the beginning of the Transition. When this party merged with the PSOE in 1978, he was secretary of organisation, propaganda, deputy secretary general and, between 1991 and 1994, secretary general of the Socialists of the Balearic Islands. He was also a member of the Balearic Islands Parliament in 1983 and 1987, resigning his seat on 8 September 1987. He is currently retired from political life and devotes himself to research on the history of science: he has a doctorate with a thesis on Padre Alcover and the creation of the modern Catalan scientific language. He is a member of the Health History Research Group (GIHS) of the University Institute of Health Sciences Research (IUNICS) of the UIB.
